Program Description

The Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Office Administration and Technology is designed to prepare students for administrative, supportive, and supervisory positions in business or industrial settings, professional offices, public institutions, and government agencies. The versatile nature of the Office Administration and Technology degree makes it an excellent choice for non-traditional adult and military students, students seeking degree completion, and traditional students seeking to improve their credentials and knowledge base for professional advancement.

Through the program, students develop proficiency in the use of state-of-the-art office technology and equipment, office procedures and management, document processing and design, communication skills, and decision making.

In addition, students obtain an extensive background in business administration which helps to qualify for promotions to managerial positions. The academic course requirements for the B.S. in Office Administration and Technology requires the completion of 60 semester hours of core courses at VSU, plus 60 semester hours of major courses.

The Office Administration and Technology degree program is fully online through eMajor, a consortium of SACSCOC accredited institutions in the University System of Georgia. Top faculty from Valdosta State University and Dalton State College participate in the delivery of the program. Students can enroll part-time or full-time and courses are available on a continuous schedule.

Prior Learning Assessment (PLA):

Valdosta State evaluates Organizational Leadership students' prior learning for credit toward degree completion. Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) can include credits earned from the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) administered by the College Board, American Council on Education (ACE) credit recommendations for military education and professional development, departmental exams, and portfolio development.

Delivery:

This program is fully online, with no on-campus attendance requirements. Students conduct all work online, including team projects, exams, discussion posts, and case studies. Students have access to online academic resources, such as VSU's Odum Library.
