Graduate Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders
The Graduate Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder will prepare teachers to meet the needs of students with autism. According to the National Center for Disease Control (2012), an average of 1 in 88 children has an autism spectrum disorder -- a number that has increased tremendously in the last decade. It is likely that all teachers will have students with autism in their classrooms at somepoint in their career.
Candidates can complete the program fully-online.
Required embedded field experience with a child with autism can be completed in the candidate's own classroom or other approved setting.
Candidates who complete the certificate program may transfer up to 9 credit hours as part of the electives for the M.Ed. in Special Education.
