Gifted In-Field Endorsement

Offered through the College of Education the University of Georgia's online Graduate Certificate Gifted In-Field Endorsement is based on the philosophy that giftedness and creativity are expressed in diverse ways among diverse people; that creativity is a universal potential to be nurtured and enhanced; and that the best education is tailored to students' specific needs and interests for talent development.

Students may either be pursuing a graduate degree in another UGA program or department, or may apply to the graduate school for non-degree status in the Department of Educational Psychology, Gifted and Creative Education (GCE) Program. Students in MEd, EdS and PhD programs in gifted education meet the criteria for certification upgrade in the State of Georgia. By taking the endorsement series at the onset of the program, degree seeking students, at the time of completion, can apply to the GAPSC for upgrade in their certificate.

Students who are interested in obtaining Gifted In-Field Endorsement must be admitted to the University of Georgia Graduate School. Prospective students may either be pursuing a graduate degree in another program, or may apply to the graduate school for non-degree status in the Department of Educational Psychology, GCE Program.

Non-Degree Program Application Checklist

Students applying to the graduate school for non-degree status are not required to take entrance exams or to submit test scores and letters of recommendation.

Application – Submit the Graduate School application online. Application fee: $75 Domestic/$100 International

Test Scores – International applicants must also submit TOEFL or IELTS scores.

Statement of Intent – Send to the department graduate coordinator. A statement of intent should clarify the candidate’s relevant background, interests, and goals, and indicate their intent for the online program in their statement.

Résumé or curriculum vita – Send to the department graduate coordinator.

Official Transcripts – Send one copy to the graduate school AND one copy to the department graduate coordinator
