Program Description

Our online M.Ed. in Elementary Education program is designed for teachers looking for an advanced degree with a concentrated study in a specific area through an endorsement. You complete your chosen endorsement as a part of the M.Ed. program, with no additional courses required. Program experiences provide you with instructional capabilities, pedagogical content knowledge and the mindsets needed to serve as effective and equitable teachers and teacher leaders in your schools and communities.

Open Endorsements

  • Kindergarten through 5th-grade mathematics endorsement
  • Dual language endorsement (only for M.Ed. applicants who hold a Foreign Language Education Certificate from the state of Georgia, otherwise M.Ed. applicants can choose this as a concentration)
  • Reading endorsement

Admissions Requirements

Select concentration in:

  • Dual Immersion – (accepting applications)
  • Elementary Literacy – (accepting applications)
  • Elementary Literacy in Reading Recovery (applicants must already be accepted in the Reading Recovery Non-Degree program – accepting applications)
  • Elementary Mathematics – (accepting applications)
  • Teacher Support & Coaching – (not currently accepting applications)

When applying to the Elementary Education, M.Ed. program, you will need to submit the following:

  • Online Application
  • Application Fee of $50
  • Goals Statement (upload with the application)
  • Resume (upload with the application)
  • One Letter of Recommendation (from supervisor; identify your recommender on the application)
  • Official Transcript(s): Submit transcripts from all colleges/universities attended either electronically to gradapplytranscripts@gsu.edu or by mailing to Georgia State University | Office of Admissions — Graduate School |P.O. Box 4018, Atlanta, GA 30302
  • Proof of meeting teacher certification requirements in Georgia
