Master of Education Degree (MED)
Are you a certified teacher who wants to move to the next level of your career? The MED is designed for certified teachers to pursue graduate studies and earn a master's degree (you can not be admitted to an MED program without a teaching certificate or its equivalent including teaching experience).

- Accomplished Teaching (offered by Valdosta State University, Georgia Southern University, Columbus State University)
This program will begin in January 2008 (program approval from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission is pending). - Instructional Technology (school library media, technology specialist and online teaching tracks offered by Georgia Southern University partnering with Valdosta State University)
- Middle Grades Education (math and science tracks offered by Valdosta State University partnering with North Georgia College & State University)
- Reading, Language, and Literacy Education (ESOL concentration offered by Georgia State University partnering with North Georgia College & State University and Valdosta State University)
- Secondary Math and Science (offered by Georgia State University)
Master of Arts in Teaching Degree (MAT)
Are you considering changing your career to become a teacher? The MAT degree is designed for individuals who have completed a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in another career area and who now want to become teachers. Through the MAT programs, career changers may obtain an initial teaching certificate.
