South Georgia State College is a four-year residential institution that serves the educational, social, and economic development of the region by providing accessible, high quality student-centered education. Through close collaboration with faculty and staff, students are engaged in educational opportunities that empower them for success in a sustainable global society. South Georgia State College prepares students to think critically, communicate proficiently, and act responsibly as civic-minded, environmentally conscious citizens.

  • South Georgia State’s more than 1,800 students come primarily from southeastern and south central Georgia, but the college’s residential facilities enable the institution to draw students from other regions of the state, neighboring states and foreign countries. The average age of students is 24-years-old, and 60 percent are women.

  • Students pursue associate degrees in 23 majors, which transfer to other institutions, and associate degrees and certificate programs in 10 majors designed to prepare them for careers in nursing, business and information systems.

  • The college’s Nightingale Mobile Clinic allows South Georgia State College’s nursing students to develop strong clinical skills and the ability to function as members of an interdisciplinary team while they work side-by-side with college faculty to deliver primary health care in a community setting.

  • South Georgia State College had an economic impact of more than $44.7 million during FY 2010.
