Augusta State University – a four-year institution – is committed to excellence in teaching, advancement of knowledge, and enrichment of the community in a climate that fosters humane values and a life-long love of learning. This mission is based on the value of a liberal arts education for students who are diverse in ethnicity, background, age, and preparation. The mission obligates the university to be open to the voices of all its members, to be responsive to the needs of its community, and to measure its success by the success of its students.

• The strong liberal arts and humanities program is nationally recognized for innovativeness, and it enriches the core curriculum of all students at Augusta State University. The university is particularly strong in biology and is the largest feeder institution to the Medical College of Georgia.

• The graduate program features master’s degrees in business administration, education, psychology, and public administration, a specialist degree in education, and a cooperative doctoral program in education leadership with Georgia Southern University.

• Augusta State University maintains strong ties with local government, businesses, industries, school systems, and military representatives, which provide a real-world, collaborative connection for students in the classroom.

• More than 6,600 students attend ASU, who are diverse in ethnicity, age, background, and experience. They come from over 50 countries and nearly every state. The institution is proud of its diversity and has a 34 percent minority enrollment, of which 26 percent are African-American.

• ASU had an economic impact of more than $187.8 million during FY 2010.
