  • Ed.S. in Exemplary Teaching offered by Valdosta State University will prepare the teacher to become a curriculum leader within the classroom environment through the development of action research methodology and applied practice.

Certificate and Endorsement Programs

In addition to choosing a teacher preparation program, you should carefully examine the certification and endorsement program options available to you through different programs and different program providers.

Teaching certificates are issued in fields that allow the individual to teach subject matter as part of the school curriculum. Endorsements are certificate fields that supplement another teaching, service, or leadership certificate.

In addition to full-field certificates, Georgia educators may be issued endorsements in specific areas to recognize additional expertise. In some areas, the endorsement is required in order to be considered in-field in a designated area, while in other cases the endorsement is not required but simply strengthens and enhances competency levels.

Teaching endorsements

  • Online Teaching Endorsement is offered by Valdosta State University and includes short sets of courses that provide certifications in key areas of need such as online teaching. In Service teachers will seek this endorsement for several reasons:
    1. The endorsement lets the student earn continuing education credit for certificate renewal
    2. The endorsement is required to teach specific student populations
    3. The format is tailored to meet the needs of graduate students who need flexible, convenient options for taking courses.
  • Gifted In-Field Teaching Endorsement offered by Valdosta State University includes short sets of courses that provide certifications in key curriculum areas for children who are identified as talented and gifted.
  • Graduate Certificate English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Endorsement
  • Graduate Certificate in Reading Endorsement
