Full Description
Albany State University is one of five universities in the state to offer this program and was selected to be the first to go fully online by the Board of Regents. Our Master of Science (M.S.) program was one of the first graduate programs to be approved by the Board of Regents, and it has produced quite an outstanding number of scholars to include top law enforcement professionals and judicial officers. Generally, degree-seekers are working professionals who are not able to enroll into our traditional on-campus program because of the demands of their jobs, but who wish to enroll in a program that will allow them to persist and obtain their degrees. The program is designed to prepare students for professional careers with the criminal justice system and also for teaching in two-year colleges and high schools. Our program has concentrations in law enforcement, corrections, public administration, and forensic science in the traditional setting. To start, the first three concentrations will be available on the web. However, it is a goal to be able to provide the forensics concentration at a distance soon as well. Theoretical, methodological, and philosophical understanding of the criminal justice system is stressed during the matriculation process.
